Personal Coaching

PRAXIS offers individual coaching to anyone who seeks a greater measure of personal empowerment in the areas of interpersonal relationships, family, career, and goal setting.  PRAXIS coaches are professional, experienced and certified by the International Coaching Federation (ICF), and are trained in the PRAXIS Coaching Method.

The PRAXIS Coaching Method

In any personal (or as it is more commonly called “life coaching”) coaching situation, the ultimate goal is for the client to be happier than before coaching began.  It is just that simple.  And in nearly all coaching situations, when a client is willing to work with his/her coach,  “happiness happens”.

Greater happiness is possible in personal coaching because clients 1) achieve greater clarity regarding their situation(s), 2) identify more choices than they imagined were available to them, 3) think through possible outcomes more thoroughly, 4) problem-solve more effectively, and 5) increase self-worth and self-esteem by independently breaking through barriers that had kept them from being happy.

These are the traditional benefits of life coaching, and good coaches guide clients through the process by asking empowering questions – that is, questions that stimulate thinking both inside and outside of the box.  Coaches do not give clients answers.  Coaches help clients find their own answers.

PRAXIS takes coaching one step further – throughout the coaching process, PRAXIS coaches help clients focus on a component often lost in problem-solving:  sustainable happiness.   The PRAXIS methodology invites clients to consider the basic PRAXIS principles of true personal happiness as decision-making moves forward: integrity, truth-telling, transparency, honor, and putting others first.

Many life coaches do in fact coach along those lines, and we at PRAXIS are not suggesting otherwise, only that there is an emphasis in the PRAXIS Coaching Method on intentionally and seriously considering those principles when making choices and solving problems.   When PRAXIS principles are in the mix, whatever solutions a client may choose, the outcomes can be much more sustainable, and as a result, clients can find greater satisfaction as they move forward in the coaching process.

Non-Member Coaching & Member Coaching

Non-members are welcome in the PRAXIS coaching community, and full PRAXIS coaching services are available to non-members.  The non-member cost is $400 per month, with a one month’s member discount refundable should a non-member join PRAXIS during the coaching process.

PRAXIS members receive a 50% discount for the first month of coaching ($200), and a 25% discount ($100) during the second month.  Thereafter, private arrangements can be made with their PRAXIS coach should PRAXIS members wish to continue the coaching process.

Coaching Process

PRAXIS coaching, like most life coaching,  is done over the phone.  This coaching platform is highly successful, and many believe it to be more effective than face-to-face coaching.  It allows for greater privacy, less client stress and distraction, much greater flexibility in appointment scheduling, and a higher percentage of appointments kept.

The initial session is an hour, with subsequent sessions typically lasting 45 mimutes.  During the initial session, the client is apprised of 1) what coaching is, 2) what to expect, and 3) what the coaching boundaries are.  In addition, the client shares with the coach any questions, concerns, and goals/problems/issues that bring him/her into the coaching process.  Clients are not charged for initial sessions, and after the initial session, clients can decide if they wish to move ahead, or decline any further coaching.  Should a client wish to move ahead, he/she is faxed or mailed a coaching/client package that includes an agreement to complete and return.  Coaches may wish to include personal inventories, worksheets, profiles, or other coaching tools in the initial client package.  These tools help the coach better understand the client and typically move the coaching process forward more quickly and effectively.

PRAXIS non-members and members may find that the “fit” with their coach is not quite right.  If so, they can let their coach know, and the coach will arrange for a new coach.  Clients will not be charged for an initial session with a second coach.  Members are entitled to switch coaches twice.  Non-members once.

Coaching Duration

Generally, life coaching involves a committment of at least two months in order to identify barriers, develop change strategies, foster significant change, and begin to feel greater levels of empowerment and satisfaction.  While most life coaches ask clients for three month committments, PRAXIS suggests that clients evaluate progress at the end of each month, and if satisfied with their coaching experience, commit to a subsequent month, and so on, one month at a time.  Committment is the key to successful life coaching, and careful consistent evaluation paired with periodic renewed committment maintains the energy levels which maximize the power of life coaching.
